The mission of Gazi University is to educate students as individuals in accordance with its core values; to contribute to society and the process of lifelong learning by producing ideas, knowledge, science, technology and services at the universal level through the pursuit of research.

Division of Curriculum and Instruction;

Mission

While the Department of Curriculum and Instruction tries to effectively fulfill its responsibilities of research, generation of science and social contribution, it has undertaken to educate students as individuals who internalize democratic values, who are secular and contemporary, who are bound to Atatürk’s principles and reforms, who search, interrogate, consider, produce and correspond to the changes. It is aimed to train specialists, teachers, and academicians who are responsive to human beings, the society and nature, who comprehend the role of themselves and their professionals in social and educational development, who gain professional competence and ethical responsibility, who consider continuous development as a form of life, who adopt scientific thinking and working, who take care of public interest and think creatively and critically. The Department of Curriculum and Instruction aims to be in interaction with the other departments in Educational Sciences both scientifically and socially.

The aim is to develop learning environments in which students can discuss the issues on education, produce solutions and express themselves freely, to create an environment in which students are aware of their social responsibilities, care quality in their academic works, open to interdisciplinary approach, share knowledge, ground on academic criteria in evaluation and an environment that supports productivity and creativity, and to internalize a culture which perpetuates all. It is also aimed to organize meetings such as national and international congresses, symposiums, panels, conferences and workshops etc. in cooperation and interaction with the several sub-disciplines of Educational Sciences and also other social sciences, to perform theoretical and applied research projects and publish, to create a physical and technological environment that makes easy for the students, academic and administrative staff to access knowledge, to communicate and to interact, and to make sustainable to perform all academic and administrative activities with an honest, clear, democratic and participatory understanding.

Vision

The basic vision of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is to perform research activities with an understanding which studies education from scientific perspective, interrogates and tries to increase the effectiveness day by day offering education and advisory services in the field. The Department has undertaken to give education in the levelst of master’s and doctoral degree as well as professional knowledge courses to the students in the other departments in the level of bachelor degree. Moreover, the faculty take charge in professional development courses and seminars. Also, it is adopted as vision that the Department addresses educational issues of the society, develops solutions, leads the policies accordingly, and shares the fund of knowledge with national and international academic community, public and private institutions and non-governmental organizations depending on right to education, equality and human rights.

Basic Values

The Department has an attitude in the way of taking care of students rights, acting with accountability principle, being fair and equal to the partners, respecting the diversity, giving importance to justice and merit, producing value added thanks to being innovative and open to changes, and respecting free thought.
